About Sedgwick DanielsWidely recognized for his work in the religious community, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels was one of the participants in the "Day of Dialogue" hosted by NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams. Along with four other highly influential African American Pastors, Sedgwick Daniels engaged in a discussion of the issues affecting the black community and ways the media can increase awareness of the services that churches provide. Bishop Daniels' authority on the subject comes from nearly four decades as a spiritual leader. Sedgwick Daniels consistently earns accolades, among them the Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award, an honor bestowed on those who promote social justice. As Executive Director and Pastor of the Holy Redeemer Church of God in Christ, Sedgwick Daniels strives to better the lives of his congregation members by both imparting the word of God and developing community resources. Bishop Daniels conducts services every Sunday that emphasize a message of worship and humanitarianism. Outside of his sermons, Sedgwick Daniels leads numerous initiatives designed to better the greater Milwaukee area. In collaboration with municipal officials, Bishop Daniels planned and brought to fruition a transformation of the area surrounding his church. The $25 million development created a home for elderly citizens, a free health care clinic, and 77 new family residences. Additionally, Sedgwick Daniels led the development of multiple programs that offer people the tools they need to thrive, among them tutoring, child care, and youth employment services. Highly educated and experienced, Sedgwick Daniels holds a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and five doctorates in various areas of divinity and the humanities. Before his 1973 ordination, Bishop Daniels gained valuable expertise in civic development and social service as a City of Milwaukee Planning Commissioner and a member of the Central City Catholic School Board.
